Our Digital Distribution Patent
Atlanta, GA – April 13, 2010 – Neurotic Media, the leading provider of online and mobile entertainment download solutions, today announced that it was awarded a patent on fundamental qualities of digital content syndication and distribution which are supported by its proprietary platform. Specifically, USPTO patent number 7,693,914 addresses a unique B2B2C relationship across the entire chain of content owners, merchants/brands, and consumers which, in recent months, has also been referred to in the marketplace as a “Hosted Model.”
Major and independent record companies provision their digital catalogs through Neurotic Media’s patented platform to various outlets (merchants, brand sites, and applications) and are able to provision commercial terms differently for each outlet in the system. For example, different outlets may at times receive different discounts or release windows for a digital product. Outlets are able to review what has been provisioned for them directly from the content owners and make business choices about when and how to sell a product and how much to charge their consumers for it. Consumers, in turn, are exposed to an offering originating from content owners but filtered by the business decisions of the outlets (hence the term B2B2C). Neurotic Media was the first company to launch such a system as a full do-it-yourself software-as-a-service (“SaaS”) platform earlier in 2005.
