Starting with Tuesday’s new releases, Neurotic Media clients such as Hot Topic’s ShockHound.com and Hastings will receive ongoing pricing updates, which will allow them to match and compete favorably with other direct-to-consumer download stores.
Neurotic Media has been offering entirely DRM-Free music catalogs in the MP3 format from all its label partners through its B2B2C platform since Fall 2008. The new variable pricing being instituted by most record companies this week involves three conventional retail price rates for MP3s – $0.69, $0.99, and $1.29 – although record companies are able to stipulate any other price as needed on a per-product basis. Neurotic Media’s clients will receive these pricing updates daily via their hosted store’s admin interface or via their API updates. Brand clients will be able to leverage Neurotic Media’s service tools to ensure that their consumers are able to access competitive offerings on a regular basis, including exclusive offerings, when such are booked between a record company and a digital retail client.
